Job Summary:
The Portability Specialist is responsible for managing and facilitating the portability process for the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program within the Housing Authority of Travis County. This role involves ensuring compliance with HUD regulations, maintaining accurate records, and providing excellent customer service to participants and landlords. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HCV program rules, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. This is a part-time position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Portability Process Management:
· Manage incoming and outgoing portability requests.
· Coordinate with other housing authorities to facilitate the portability of HCV participants.
· Ensure timely and accurate processing of portability paperwork.
- Compliance and Record Keeping:
· Ensure compliance with HUD regulations and Housing Authority policies.
· Maintain detailed and accurate records of all portability transactions.
· Follow up with other Housing Authority’s billing and invoices.
· Prepare and submit required reports and documentation in a timely manner.
- Customer Service:
· Provide clear and accurate information to HCV participants and landlords about the portability process.
· Address and resolve any issues or concerns related to portability.
· Conduct informational sessions and workshops for participants on portability procedures.
- Collaboration:
· Work closely with the Housing Authority’s HCV team to ensure smooth portability transitions.
· Collaborate with external housing authorities to resolve any portability-related issues.
- Administrative Duties:
· Manage and respond to phone calls and emails related to portability.
· Assist in the preparation and distribution of portability-related materials.
· Perform other administrative tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
· Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Housing Choice Voucher program or asimilar role.
· Experience with portability processes and HUD regulations is highly desirable.
· Strong understanding of the Housing Choice Voucher program and HUD regulations.
· Excellent organizational and time management skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
· Exceptional customer service skills.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to sit for extended periods.
· Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
Work Environment:
· The work environment is primarily an office setting.
Pay Rate:
· $20/hour + medical benefits
