A System Administrator at Chenega Agile Real-Time Solutions (CARS) thrives in an exciting, fast-paced environment. A System Administrator works on-site and remotely from home to assist Chenega Agile Real-Time Solutions (CARS) system administrator to support our research and development team in creating cutting-edge mobile and web applications to support military health needs.
A System Administrator supports DoD Network Administration and Atlassian JIRA users. A System Administrator updates software, communicates with users to notify them of changes, sets up access for new users, and removes access from users who are leaving.
- Demonstrate knowledge of system administration for Linux, and Windows networks/systems, including virtual networks and cloud environments.
- Utilize experience working in cloud environments, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.
- Apply expertise in scanning and security hardening for servers/networks.
- Create, manage, and take appropriate actions relating to Splunk Alerts.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of SQL.
- Address STIG findings and facilitate communication regarding any mitigation concerns and additional activities.
- Have a working knowledge of VMware and vCenter.
- Assist with physical and virtual network configuration and administration of protocols, ports, and services.
- Document processes and procedures relating to routine activities.
- Install and upgrade servers, troubleshoot issues, and plan for future requirements.
- Monitor system configuration, including server event logs.
- Test operating system software, networking, and computer hardware.
- Monitor and facilitate backing up and restoring server backups.
- Manage Active Directory using group policy and endpoint management tools like Intune.
- Utilize Microsoft 365 Suite tools, including Power Automate, Power Apps, OneDrive management, SharePoint, and permissions management.
- Administer Jira projects, workflows, permissions, and users, including external plug-in integration and JQL modification.
- Migrate, integrate, and consolidate Jira instances and projects.
- Provide general and technical Atlassian tool support to users by phone or remote access, and when needed, diagnose, and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Effectively communicate and share knowledge with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Handle incident ticket data for comprehensive reporting and analytics.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 2+ years of experience as a system administrator managing government systems
- Experience with periodic system back-ups and SOP documentation.
- Experience maintaining Linux and Windows networks/systems, including virtual networks and cloud environments.
- US citizenship required
- Active CompTIA Security+ certification within 30 days of hire
- Background check required
- Public Trust or have the ability to obtain a Public Trust
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Skills in system task automation using scripting languages like bash, python, or Perl.
- Hands-on experience with Jira Cloud, including Jira Administration, Jira Data Center (Jira DC), and Jira Service Management (JSM).
- Expertise in Atlassian tool administration (JIRA and Confluence).
- Experience in Atlassian installations, migrations, and plugin installations.
- Strong analytical skills and agility in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent time management, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting
- Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
- Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
- Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone with good phone skills and a professional demeanor.
- Previous customer service experience strongly desired.
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it.
