Overview /Objective
The NFL is seeking a Senior Director, Global Brand & Consumer Marketing to strategically lead marketing initiatives in support of the League’s Social Responsibility (Cause), Player Health & Safety, and Responsible Betting programs. The Senior Director will lead effective and highly-collaborative cross-functional teams towards the implementation of key campaigns that drive brand relevance and key brand attributes that contribute to increased fan engagement and avidity.
The Senior Director will oversee strategic alignment of key initiatives (Cause, Player Health & Safety, Responsible Betting) against annual and long-term Marketing and League business priorities. They will build meaningful partnerships with internal stakeholders and agency partners to support marketing strategy development and plans that strategically leverage earned and owned channels.
The successful candidate will be forward thinking, have a creative mind, and have significant experience in every facet of consumer-facing marketing from research to strategy to creative to in-market performance marketing inclusive of short-term and long-term planning. In addition, the candidate will have experience with brand building and media. The position requires a creative and entrepreneurial mindset, superior attention to detail, strong project and program management skills, and the ability to oversee budgets and various time sensitive deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Directly responsible for the strategic planning of key cross-organizational initiatives, long-term planning, and marketing campaigns for Social Responsibility, Player Health & Safety, and Responsible Betting initiatives.
- Set strategy, define key objectives and KPIs, and oversee brand positioning across all assigned campaigns. Clearly communicate campaign strategies to Marketing Senior Leadership and cross-org business partners.
- Develop and lead creative briefings with agency partner(s) and serve as a key stakeholder in the development of content marketing assets that bring campaigns to life, build positive brand sentiment, and drive awareness and fan engagement.
- Work closely with strategy and insights teams to stay aligned on campaign prioritization, strategic approach to engaging key audiences, measurement plans across campaigns, and new audience insights that could impact campaign strategies.
- Lead annual business planning efforts in support of assigned campaigns, inclusive of YoY performance recaps, upcoming year strategic and target audience approaches, and budget submissions. Ensure collaboration and communication with cross-org business partners throughout business planning process, as needed.
- Lead a small team towards the development of go-to-market plans to support campaign objectives and KPIs. Develop clear initiative timelines that will drive the team’s day-to-day execution of marketing plans to realize initiative goals.
- Coach team member(s) in leadership of cross-functional and collaborative channel support briefings and ongoing working groups designed to craft effective integrated plans and measurement processes to meet/exceed goals with defined target audiences.
- Analyze campaign performance data and oversee team’s collaboration with internal teams and media agencies to ensure ongoing campaign optimization.
- Manage internal and external partner relationships from all phases of planning to post-campaign reporting.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of world class consumer brand marketing experience from either a large consumer brand, professional sports league, or top performing agency, with a proven track record of success. Non-profit or cause related messaging work a +
- Exceptional communication skills (oral and written). Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with senior management. Experience with marketing-related public speaking engagements a plus.
- 5+ years of team management experience. Demonstrated expertise in building, developing, and coaching a team of marketing professionals.
- Superior leaderships skills, with a strong bias towards transparent communication and collaboration. Demonstrated ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
- Strong strategic ability, analytical skills, and bias for action.
- BA/BS from top undergraduate university with degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
- An NFL fan.
- Energetic, adaptable, collaborative, positive, and passionate.

Salary / Pay Range

The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
