Title: Network Engineer
Duration: 6 months
Location: Philadelphia, PA (on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, work remote Monday and Friday.)
Summary
Responsibilities/Job Duties/Job Description/Qualifications:
Responsible for design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Xfinity WiFi Core Network infrastructure: routers, switches, ports, firewalls, and oad balancers. Actively involved in optimizing the network for greater efficiency and reliability, monitoring network and application health, and ensuring security compliance. Partners with key stakeholders: XWiFi Engineers from the Core Network, QA, and Operations teams, Network/LB Team, Data Center on-site Engineers, Product Owners, Security, and vendors.
Core Responsibilities
Network Design and Planning
Support and optimize performance of current network infrastructure to maximize efficiency, capacity, reliability, and security
Participate in design of new features and enhancements to existing network design and configuration with XWiFi Engineers
Model network capacity for failure scenarios to proactively predict routing and topology changes
Network Implementation and Configuration
Plan and implement network upgrades and expansions
Manage and maintain network configurations for LAB and production environments
Coordinate the installation and configuration of network changes for LAB and production
Unit test network and LB changes and coordinate with XWiFi QA
Define and socialize standard procedures for network installation, maintenance, and operations: create detailed MOPs
Follow the change management process for creation, implementation, validation, and completion
Participate in development of automation to streamline processes
Network Monitoring and Maintenance
Monitor network performance: identify problems and respond accordingly
Build and enhance dashboards and alerts on key network elements
Network Documentation and Reporting
Maintain detailed network documentation for LAB and production
Define and create regular reports on network performance, availability, and capacity to inform decision-making and drive continuous process improvement
Network Security
Implement and maintain network security measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and malware
Configure firewalls and advise on the integration of intrusion detection: protect the XWiFi Core Network platform from DDoS
Participate in periodic network audits to ensure compliance with security standards
Collaboration and Communication
Partner effectively with engineers, key stakeholders, and vendors
Share knowledge and provide guidance to team members
Exercise consistent independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance to achieve maximum service availability and optimal customer experience
Work productively without close supervision
Participate in 24x7 on call rotation as primary or secondary
Available to work nights and weekends as needed
Attain and maintain key industry standard certifications and education
Stay current with the latest networking technologies, industry trends, and best practices

Skills
Extensive experience with Cisco, Juniper, Arista switches and routers
Solid grasp of IP routing and switching: ISIS, OSPF, and BGP
Solid knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 internetworking technologies; their applications and routing
Understanding of Network, OSS/BSS system integration points, and network security principles and practices
Proficient in monitoring and diagnostic tools to maintain highest availability and best customer experience
Able to troubleshoot and resolve complex Xfinity WiFi network issues and faults and remediate outages or performance degradation
Proficient in the understanding and practical application of programming the network versus configuring networks
Able to create and interpret complex requirements and technical specifications
Proficient in creating and interpreting documentation
Proven business skills: able interact professionally with internal teams and external vendors
Experience/Education
Certifications: preferred CCNA Routing and Switching, CCNP, CCIE, CWNA, CCNA Wireless, CWSP, Java OCA
7-10 years' experience with Cisco, Juniper, Arista switches, and routers
7-10 years' experience with network protocols
7-10 years' experience supporting in Telecommunication Development or Operations or related field supporting high reliability large-scale systems
