The Digital Workplace Manager is position is central to the company’s communication and collaboration mission, responsible for leading the development and execution of a broad digital workspace strategy based primarily on Microsoft 365 as a comprehensive communication, collaboration (including project management tools) and compliance platform. This position serves as the company-wide leader for the implementation and adoption of Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms, engaging departmental leaders throughout the organization and providing leadership, education, and hands-on execution in adopting new paradigms of working, and the application of modern user experience principles that are both relevant and effective for the client. This position requires a combination of communication skill, technical competency, and process improvement orientation. This position will be a hands-on self-starter who ensures the day-to-day operations of the Microsoft 365 and other SaaS based platforms are aligned to meet objectives of the organization. The Digital Workplace Manager reports to the Director, Service Management.

- Provide strong leadership in the adaptation of Microsoft 365, defusing contentious circumstances, securing consensus, managing the perception of loss of autonomy, and overcoming objections and the reluctance to change.
- Establish clear processes, controls, and best practices for Microsoft 365 use in support of the business.
- Lead the migration of files storage from LAN shares to the Microsoft 365 platform, including leadership on records management, classification, and Digital Loss Prevention within the Microsoft 365 platform.
- Provide day-to-day administration of the Microsoft 365 platform, including security administration and functional configuration of Microsoft 365 apps. Provide troubleshooting assistance, as necessary.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Microsoft 365 collaboration apps and continuously develop knowledge and expertise in the administration of the platform.
- Provide training to power users, community managers and executives for new Digital Workspace platforms centered on Microsoft 365.
- Develop and implement management, support, and single sign-on structures for enterprise SaaS based applications (e.g., accounting, human resources, recruiting, payroll, facilities, purchasing, etc.)
- Bring clarity to ambiguous or uncertain aspects of use cases for Office 365, either technical or business in nature.
- Cultivate strong business relationships with key business stakeholders, demonstrating the ability to understand their needs and objectives, and gaining their trust in IT’s ability to execute and deliver Office 365 and other SaaS platforms.
- Manage and provide support for corporate IT managed SaaS based applications and other cloud solutions.
- Partner with other IT Application Owners to identify opportunities to integrate Office 365 workflows and apps with LOB apps and workflows.
- Champion the transformation of business process improvement and adoption of digital workplace technologies and ensure their effective governance, management, and administration.
- Partner with the PR Communications team & the HR Teams in optimizing Office 365 as a CMS platform for the Intranet.
- Provide product expertise and work to co-develop effective employee engagement strategies based on Digital Workspace experiences.
- Work with the Student Portal Team to define and implement the Microsoft 365 Student Experience.
- Develop and lead program management, content and execution for Microsoft 365 use case and implementations.
- Support adoption and strategic use of Enterprise Communities.
- Partners with IT Security to enhance security posture and remediate issues.
- Adopt a “Player/Coach” position, contributing on an individual level as much as leading cross functional teams in the effort to advance new Digital Workspace adoption centered on Microsoft 365.
- Facilitate team organization and ceremonies such as stand-ups, sprint/iteration reviews/demos, and retrospectives, as needed.
- Establish a strong culture of accountability and high performance. • Establishes process and technology strategy for assigned functions.
- Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and carefully all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal policies and procedures to team members, communicating same to team members.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree and or equivalent combination of education and work experience in a technical discipline.
- Ability to demonstrate that they have built and managed high performing teams.
- 3 years’ experience administering and supporting ends users of Microsoft 365 solutions, e.g., Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint/Lists, Power Automate, Records Compliance, and Exchange Online.
- 3 years' experience configuring and supporting SaaS based enterprise solutions to industry best practices.
- IT leadership, motivated to inclusively collaborate with and serve others in achieving outcomes.
- Adept at stakeholder communications from the contact center to Senior leaders.
- Natural curiosity to learn, ask questions, identify mistaken assumptions, and bring an open-minded approach.
- A high level of initiative and results focused.
- Ability to manage a fully remote team.
- Minimum of 2 years leadership experience of like functions and at like or greater scale and complexity.
- Experience with higher education processes and technology, data, student information, learning and systems like Anthology, Brightspace D2L and similar.
- Applicable certifications-e.g., Lean Six Sigma, Microsoft Office 365, Azure, and/or security.
