SALARY

The salary range for this position is $121,971.24 to $182,956.86 annually.
This is an exempt position not eligible for overtime; however, compensatory time is granted for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.

We are seeking an innovative technology leader for our progressive city of 320,000 residents. Lexington is led by a recently re-elected mayor who strives to make positive, lasting changes for our city. We are forward-thinking and understand the power of technology to change the lives of our residents. Our new CIO will play a prominent role in making that happen.

The purpose of this classification is to provide overall strategic management and direction of all Information Technology programs, services and policies for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in a related field
Minimum of eight years of progressively responsible managerial experience
Additional years of related education may substitute for years of related experience
Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of related education
Partial years of credit may be granted for every 15 credit hours of education in an unrelated field

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Establishes and directs the strategic long-term goals, policies and procedures for the information technology (IT) department
Determines Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government’s (LFUCG) long-term system needs and any hardware, software and service acquisitions needed to accomplish its objectives
Orients LFUCG to trends in the information technology industry
Reviews major IT solution purchases and implementations
Understands and communicates information technology product and solution offerings
Confers with elected officials, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), contractors, consultants, staff members and other groups to discuss issues, coordinate activities, or resolve problems
Serves as principal advisor to elected officials and the CAO on IT policy and administration related to the acquisition, deployment, and management of IT resources
Participates in IT industry forums to represent the city
Performs related work as assigned

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16

EXAMINATION
