Reports to and functions as the IT Director under the overview of the CEO. The IT Director coordinates the development, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of the technology information systems at Kendal at Lexington. The IT Director will serve as the IT Security Officer.

Responsibilities

1. Oversees the daily performance of all Kendal at Lexington computer and information systems. Oversees daily assignments and workload of IT Technician Assistant. Manages the set-up of workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers, etc.) including updates and maintenance of computers following a written-organized schedule, and offers support to staff related to other computer hardware (i.e. mouse, HDD, keyboards, etc.)

2. The IT Director is responsible for developing and maintaining local network and computer systems. This may include installation and configuring of network hardware as needed including wireless networks and communication systems. The IT Director is responsible for the overall security of Kendal IT systems including privacy and/or security breaches.

3. The IT Director is responsible for all equipment/inventory and maintaining an accurate count and distribution of IT equipment. The IT Director will maintain a minimum of IT equipment, placing orders or replacing items as indicated and/or approved. The IT Director is responsible for ensuring the maintenance of clean work areas, storage areas, and IT Closets.

4. The IT Director is responsible for performing troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging, etc.) for all Kendal employees who use IT systems and as time allows Kendal residents. This may include obtaining quotes and initiating contracts without outside vendors.

5. The IT Director will maintain records/logs of repairs, work orders, fixes, etc. as a part of continued communication within the department. Additionally, the IT Director is responsible for maintaining records of the location and function of IT equipment, fiber and lines, switches, licenses, etc. to ensure preparedness for future installation and/or changes that may be required. This includes policies, procedures, and audits as applicable. The IT Director will complete timely communication regarding projects and the completion of tasks.

6. In support of Kendal, the IT Director will continue to identify opportunities for improvement and monitor for best use of resources and budget while moving Kendal forward in using new and existing technologies. The IT Director will think innovatively, and continually educate the leadership team and Board on new trends in technology and its use.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science preferred but engineering or other, relevant field acceptable or equivalent experience with 3 or more years of work experience in computer operations. An individual may hold this position without a degree but is expected to complete continued education toward their degree in Computer Science or a similar field while working at Kendal.

Certification as an IT Technician will be advantageous (ex. CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional)

Minimum of five years' experience in the field of computer science/technology.

Must have a working knowledge of both PC and LAN operations regarding hardware and software.

Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and analytical/diagnostic as well as problem-solving abilities.

Must have the ability to facilitate the need to understand and support Kendal’s standard vertical applications.

Must be competent at developing and maintaining productive and cooperative relationships with staff, Board members, residents, and outside vendors.

Must possess skills in multitasking and prioritizing.

Must have effective organizational and time-management skills.

Must be able to effectively manage support staff and vendors in daily operations.

Strong understanding of diverse computer systems and networks.

Strong knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
