What You'll Do:

Bardavon is looking for a Lead Devops Architect to take on the challenge of enhancing our infrastructure and development processes as we evolve to meet best practices. You will get support from our recently acquired PeerWell Engineering team who already has DevOps with IaC and CI/CD in place: automated testing pipelines and zero-downtime deployments using immutable architectures. Meanwhile, alongside our existing Ops staff, you will also be helping to shore up part of our existing AWS infrastructure implementation, which is in the “classic” style. Additionally, you will:

Identify a tractable, incremental development plan for moving to best-practice IaC (infrastructure as code) prior to gaining engineering management approval
Lead the development of that infrastructure
Assist with current infrastructure maintenance and practices
Collaborate with our PeerWell Engineering DevOps

Must Have’s:

7+ years DevOps experience: either AWS Solution Architect or AWS DevOps Professional certification or equivalent experience
Designing and building non-trivial systems in IaC, using Terraform, CloudFormation, Serverless
Minimum 3-5 years as a senior developer or application architect
Minimum 2-3 years hands-on experience with cloud technology architecture and web application deployment models
Identifying and deploying cybersecurity measures by continuously performing vulnerability assessment and risk management
Experience with Agile and DevOps
Expertise in security best practices: network, identity, OS, etc.
Experience monitoring and diagnosing system failures, including those built using IaC
Designing for continuous delivery: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, etc.
Designing Multi-region, live Disaster Recovery
Supporting Web, Containerize, and Serverless infrastructures
Support of databases
Mentoring and guiding team members
Monitoring and measuring customer experience and KPIs
Managing periodic reporting on the progress to the management and the customer
Defining and setting development, test, release, update, and support processes for DevOps operation
Proficient technical skills to review, verify and validate the software code developed in the project
Troubleshooting techniques and fixing the code bugs
Managing Windows and Linux servers
Ability to complete daily operational checklist to prevent issues or outages and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software
Familiarity with AWS: IAM, SSN, ECS, ECR, AWS BATCH, lambda, CloudFront, RDS, Elastic Cache, EC2, S3, EBS, Glacier operation in a Hybrid Cloud environment
Agile development processes & tools champion: Git, Jira or similar.
Defining infrastructure and knowledge of deployment tools: Terraform, CloudFormation
Understanding container cluster management: AWS EKS & Kubernetes, Docker.
Logging, Monitoring, and Alert systems: SumoLogic, DataDog, etc.
Experience with Linux OS and shell scripts.
Experience with internet networking and security: AWS SG & VPC, TCP/IP, SSH, DHCP, DNS, HTTP, bastions, etc.
Familiarity with SQL server and PostgreSQL
Exposure to SQL and NoSQL (Redis)
Strong knowledge of systems management tools (Chef, Puppet preferred)
Python and/or Perl desired
Designing infrastructure overviews and cost estimations
Write infrastructure code and automation
Performing deployment and updates of the system
Developing and applying blue-green zero-downtime upgrade for different clusters
Ensuring security, high availability, disaster recovery and all best practices
Developing and applying log aggregation and monitoring

Nice to have’s:

Experience with security reviews & HIPAA requirements: SOC2 or similar.
Experience in creating & calculating system reliability metrics (e.g.: RPO, RTO, SLO, SLI).
Familiarity with Chaos Engineering Tools.
Knowledge of defining and monitoring system quality measures, including SLO and SLA.
