TITLE: Authorizations Specialist/ Complex Rehab Technology Billing Specialist

Full-Time hourly Position

Responsibilities But May Not Be Limited To The Following

The Authorizations Specialist/ Medical Billing Specialist will provide support to all departments, while performing a variety of duties as needed. Must be flexible. This will include, but is not limited to:

Provide leadership and support to billing team, including billing follow up for Private and Private / Medicare / Medicaid Claims. Provide expertise and guidance where needed to bring overall Insurance aging percentage down.

Responsible for follow-up of all insurance authorizations. Will work with Revenue Cycle Manager to ensure procedures are developed and followed for authorization protocol.

Assists in departmental daily, weekly, monthly performance goals and tracking.

Verifies all Medicare and Medicaid insurance information and checks each authorization for accuracy and correctness, both at the time of submission and at the time of approval.

Makes necessary process improvement changes by working and collaborating with other departments companywide.

Assists billing team with billing claims, AR follow up and trending.

Daily reports to follow up on all outstanding authorizations. Ensures timely follow-up and throughput.

Calls Clients, Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance companies, to check the status of accounts and when to expect payment.

Makes all Medicare and Medicaid corrections on appropriate online systems.

Responds to requests for medical documentation in a timely manner.

Sends in appeals when appropriate for clients.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Physical

Must be clean and neat in personal appearance.

Education

College Degree is not required, but commensurate level experience in Complex Rehab Technology and Durable Medical Equipment medical billing is required.

Experience

1-2 years verifiable management / supervisory experience over medical billing staff or medical billing department

Possess 3-5 years verifiable experience in Complex Rehab Technology medical billing to Private Insurance, Medicare and Medicaid; Experience billing Complex Rehab Technology and Durable Medical Equipment is required.

Able to function as a polite and cooperative team member with a positive attitude.

Computer And Electronic Billing Systems Experience Required.

Able to work independently and efficiently.

On Call: 1. This position is not required to be on call.
